Bakery Training

Sapana Village Social Impact (SVSI), in collaboration with Restaurant and Bar Association (REBAN) Sauraha and PUM Netherlands, successfully organized a comprehensive Bakery Training from July 12th to 15th at Shree Bacchauli Secondary School. The training was led by Mr. Sjoerd Jellema, an expert from PUM Netherlands, and was attended by 17 enthusiastic youths. The program aimed to equip participants with essential bakery skills, promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities in the region. This collaboration underscores SVSI’s continued commitment to empowering local communities and fostering sustainable livelihoods through skill development initiatives.
More Details

The 17 participants gained practical skills in baking, including techniques for preparing bread, pastries, and cakes. These skills are directly transferable to employment or entrepreneurial ventures in the growing hospitality and tourism industry in the region. The training encouraged participants to consider bakery as a viable business opportunity. With the growing demand for baked goods in the tourism sector of Sauraha, several trainees expressed their intentions to start their own bakery businesses, fostering self-employment. By equipping participants with market-relevant skills, the training increased their employability in local restaurants, hotels, and cafes, which are key employers in the area. The bakery training thus directly supports job creation in the region.

The involvement of Mr. Sjoerd Jellema from PUM Netherlands added a high level of expertise and credibility to the program, ensuring participants learned best practices in bakery production. This international collaboration reinforced the effectiveness and quality of the training. The program's collaboration with REBAN Sauraha linked the training to the broader hospitality sector, ensuring that the skills learned aligned with local industry needs. This partnership is expected to lead to more job placements and collaborations between the trained bakers and local businesses. SVSI’s role in organizing the event reflects its ongoing commitment to empowering local communities by providing them with practical skills that enable them to generate income. The training contributes to sustainable livelihood development by equipping youth with the means to become economically independent. Participants provided overwhelmingly positive feedback about the training's structure and content, citing the opportunity to learn new skills and gain confidence in their abilities. This enthusiasm has set a precedent for future training programs and skill development initiatives in the area.
