SVSI Visit to Kanchan Nepal and Li-bird in Pokhara Under IRME Project

As part of the Integrated Resources Management of Water and Ecosystem in Central Hills of Nepal (IRME) Project, Sapana Village Social Impact organized a two-day visit to the partner organizations, Kanchan Nepal and Li-Bird, in Pokhara. The visit aimed to observe ongoing project activities, exchange knowledge, and enhance collaboration between the organizations.

On the first day, the SVSI team visited project sites implemented by Li-Bird in Sundaridada and Maramche Village. The tour began at the View Tower cum Information Centre, a unique facility that also houses a seed bank. The team learned about the center’s establishment and its role in community engagement. They also met Mr. Indra Prasad Poudel, the initial designer of the IRME project, who shared key insights into the project’s objectives and expected outcomes. The second day focused on Li-Bird’s agro-ecological village in Maramche, where SVSI team observed sustainable farming practices and community-led conservation efforts. A highlight was the visit to a community-managed seed bank, which preserves indigenous crop varieties. Later, the team held a productive meeting with Kanchan Nepal’s team, including its Chairperson, to discuss future collaborations and project initiatives.
