SVSI Provided Bee-Keeping Refresher Training in Rain Communities

On December 24 and 25, SVSI organized a Refresher Training on Bee-keeping for residents of Rain Communities in Ghurkesh and Kaule. This initiative followed the distribution of bee-hives earlier in the year, aiming to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills for effective and sustainable apiculture practices.

The training, led by an experienced trainer, included hands-on demonstrations and practical sessions. Participants were taught essential techniques, including how to retrieve honey safely and efficiently from bee-hives, and the importance of maintaining cleanliness within the hives to ensure healthy colonies. Moreover, attendees were trained to identify different types of bees, a critical skill for managing hives effectively. The trainer also educated participants on potential threats to bee colonies, such as diseases, pests, and environmental factors, and provided strategies to mitigate these risks.

This training reflects SVSI’s commitment to empowering local communities with sustainable livelihood practices while supporting environmental conservation. The program received positive feedback from participants, who expressed confidence in applying the skills to maximize the productivity of their bee-keeping ventures.
