On September 22nd and 23rd, 2024, Sapana Village Social Impact successfully concluded a two-day Silage Making Training program in Ichchhakamana-1, Kolbhangyang, and Hattibang. The training, which drew a remarkable 95% female participation, was attended by a total of 61 community members, with the remaining 5% consisting of male participants.
The primary objective of the Silage Making Training is to promote sustainable livestock management practices by reducing grazing activities, while equipping participants with the skills to produce high-quality feed for their domestic animals. Silage, a fermented, high-moisture stored fodder, provides livestock with a more nutritious diet, especially during the dry season when fresh feed become scarce.
The event is part of CCDP Project to enhance agriculturalproductivity, improve livestock health, and empower rural communities. By focusing on silage-making techniques, the training also aligns with environmental conservation goals, as it helps prevent overgrazing and promotes better land management. Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing the significance of the skills they learned for improving both livestock care and income generation. With the majority of attendees being women, the training also represented a strong step toward gender empowerment in agricultural practices, enabling them to take a lead in their community's livestock management.
