SVSI has successfully distributed 918 fodder plant seedlings to four rain communities in the Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality. The seedlings, comprising species such as Taaki, Koiralo, Bakaino, and Ipil-Ipil, were purchased from local nurseries that SVSI has been actively supporting. To bolster the agricultural capacity of these communities, SVSI distributed 450 seedlings in the Tobang area, 243 seedlings in Hattibang, 143 seedlings in Kaule, and 82 seedlings in Chhapdada. These communities will benefit from the fodder plants, which are expected to play a vital role in supporting livestock and contributing to the local economy.
The initiative has increased enthusiasm among local nursery farmers, who are optimistic about the potential for growth. In Tobang, nursery farmers Ishwor Chepang and Jhamka Bahadur Magar showed their excitement about expanding their operations to include fruit plants in the near future. Similarly, in Hattibang, Man Bahadur Magar, and in Kaule, Khum Bahadur Saru Magar, are also keen on diversifying their nurseries. Santosh Chepang from Chhapdada shares this ambition, highlighting the growing interest in horticulture within these communities. This distribution effort follows a similar initiative in Ghurkesh, where SVSI distributed plant seedlings a month ago. Sangeet Gurung, a young and energetic nursery farmer in Ghurkesh, is eager to establish a fruit nursery, which shows the positive impact of SVSI’s support on local agricultural entrepreneurship.
